THE TEMPLE
As a Christian, do you realize that you are not your own?
“Do you
not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you,
whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at
a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What does this mean?
It means that we do not own these flesh and blood bodies
anymore. We are caretakers.
Are you honoring the Lord in your body, or are you putting
junk into it, physically and spiritually? Are you eating junk food
consistently, too much food, fried foods, sodas, desserts, etc.? Are you feeding
your spirit with things that are not pleasing to the Lord? Things that are
evil, silly, or things that don’t build up your faith? The latest murder
mystery, silly jokes, stories, fantasies?
Why is this bad? To begin with our eating habits…if you
feed junk to your body, you are playing with your health. The Holy Spirit wants
to use your body to reach others for Jesus. You could be cutting your life
short by doing this. People may wind up in hell, because you were not there to
tell them about Him. Is that dessert worth a lost soul?
Spiritually, whatever we put into our minds is what we will
dwell on, and it will become a part of our spirit. We will be thinking about
things that are not real…made up stories and evil. We should not be dwelling on
these things. The Lord tells us…
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose
mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.”
Isaiah 26:3
The Holy Spirit will not be able to use to the fullest,
those whom He cannot trust. He asks all of us, “Can I trust you?”
You may answer, “Yes.” But again, He will ask, “Can I really
trust you?”
This reminds one of the encounter Peter had with Jesus,
after Jesus rose from the dead.
So, when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon
Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou Me more than these? He saith unto Him,
Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him, Feed My lambs.
He saith to him again the second time, Simon,
son of Jonas, lovest thou Me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I
love thee. He saith unto him, Feed My sheep.
He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of
Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because He said unto him the third
time, Lovest thou Me? And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things; Thou
knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed My sheep.
John 21:15-17
The Holy Spirit is asking:
“Do you love Me, can I trust you?”
What will your answer be? Your life and body will be the
deciding factors!
Lord, we ask that whoever reads this, will truly
have the strength to honor You with their bodies, minds and spirits, and to be
what You have called them to be…in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen
