Peace, Be Still
You may have heard about the huge storm that has been affecting the U.S. recently. It is covering an area that spans from the East Coast to the West Coast! As it moved southward, the Southern part of California began to feel the fury of this storm.
It began with lots of rain. Flood Alerts, Wind Alerts, and even Snow Alerts with Blizzard Warnings were issued. This is pretty much unheard of in our area. The first day it started raining off and on, heavy at times, but nothing really unusual. On Day 2, we saw more consistent rain, but still not that much out of the ordinary, with winds blowing off and on.
I went to take the trash out on Day 1, as it was supposed to be worse the next day. As I neared the trash dumpster the wind starting picking up. By the time I got to the dumpster it was blowing my clothing so violently, that I almost had my dress blowing up in my face! I wondered how I was going to manage my clothing while I was lifting the large trash bag up above my head to throw it away? Then it came to me...Jesus spoke to the wind! He told it to be still, and it happened. I thought, I'm going to try it! I said, "Peace, be still...in the Name of Jesus!" The wind immediately stopped blowing! So I quickly threw my trash away and headed back to the entrance of my apartment building. As I got closer, the wind picked up again! I immediately said again, "Peace, be still, in Jesus Name!" It stopped blowing again until I got inside the building. I thought to myself..."It works!!!"
And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was great calm. But He said to them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"
Mark 4:37-39
During the evening on Day 2 of our storm here, the rain got really heavy and constant, and the wind was howling and hitting our apartment building so hard! It sounded like a blizzard! Then the lights flickered...I thought to myself, "Uh-oh." I prayed. About an hour later the power went completely off. I was so relieved when my emergency lights came on and that I wasn't in the dark (physically or spiritually)! I immediately called out to Jesus. A couple of minutes later the power came back on! About a half hour later the power went off again. Again, I called on Jesus, and the power came back on in minutes! I went to sleep, slept soundly, and saw in the morning that the power had not gone off again during the night...despite the consistent howling, strong winds and pounding rain. I was so thankful to the Lord. I thanked Him for His goodness and mercy. I learned later that 78,000 people in our area were without electricity that morning!
Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.
John 14:12
Believe, and let the Holy Spirit guide you in all things! He is our Helper and Friend.
I pray more believers begin to use the privileged power God has given all of us. It’s going to get worse before our beloved comes for us and we need to be able to rely on him for EVERYTHING including the weather
